Saltwater Pencil Popper Lures

Perfect for Saltwater top water fishing
for BIG Stripers, Bluefish, and other gamefish!

Salty's Slammers

1.25 oz Size
Yellow Birch, sealed against water for maximum durability, primed and hand painted. Weighted perfectly for optimum presentation! Hand tied buck tails with Mirage flash.
VMC 4X strong Permasteel 2/0 Belly hook, 5/0 Siwash tail hook. Stainless steel through wired for maximum durability!
We make all our lures standard with Siwash hooks for best hook-up! MUCH easier release also!

Proper presentation of a pencil popper is the cast then twitch the rod tip while retrieving, this will allow the lure to "walk the dog" from side to side. Vary your retrieve, go real slow for stripers, faster for bluefish and tuna/tunoid species. Jumble it up a few twitches fast a few slow. Dying bait is very erratic.

Many people tell me these lures catch where others won't. Very effective profile and length. Very similar to the size of an adult sandeel or needlefish which stripers LOVE.

And they're made in the USA...

"Thanks for getting the poppers out to me.  They just came.
Last night the storm had moved through by 6:30pm.  Went out on the lower CT River and first cast a 15 lber on the Parrot Pencil!  Was getting fish on just about every cast for an hour.  Lost count of the keepers I landed.  Wicked explosive strikes.  All fish caught in 3 - 5 feet of water.  In the 2 days I have owned your pencil popper I have absolutely crushed the fish.  I'm going out again tonight armed with the Pencil Popper and the Regular Popper that just came today."

New for 2005 these plugs have REAR eyes to better resemble squid!
This was a fluke last year when I made a few for myself to play with,
but when I saw how dramatic the change was in how the lure looked and others said the same thing I knew this was going to take a already good plug and make it better!
The catches on the Sea-gar poppers have been fantastic!
The Sea-gar is my go-to popper when fishing the surf, very aerodynamic, casts a mile, and has a unique "slashing" style action to it that always drives the fish wild!

"Your plugs are always on the end of my line (and usually with a fish attached).
Keep up the good work."

40+ and 45lb bass caught by Riptide Charters & Clients with Salty's Seagar poppers on 10/06/07, Very nice job!

3.5 oz The Sheriff

There's a new Sheriff in town...and his name is BIG BART.
This plug dances like no other on the water.
Big Bart is 10" long and is weighted to perfectly dance every time.
One of the testers caught 7 fish over 20 lbs on a tide cycle with one of these.

And the reviews I get say it all...

"Just wanted to let you know, I missed probably the biggest bass I have seen yet to date this morning. I put on the pearl white sheriff, and on my first cast, I made it dance a little, then Wham!! Huge Explosion on top! How I didn't hook it I'll never know, nerves probably got me. The sound this fish made when it hit the plug on the surface, sounded like someone tossed a boulder in the water. Had numerous tail slaps, and even though I missed this fish I wanted to say thanks for making a great product, it made my morning."

"I used all chunk bait up until I met this kid down at the canal he let me use one of his plugs that was from you . I watched him pull in about twenty five fish in a hour  I could not get the hang of casting lures or using them he stopped fishing and helped me I had the best day ever catching fish and the most in one day including a 25 pound 42 inch striper. Best day on the water by far oh ya I lost his lure note learned about retying knots the hard way."

"I took it with me last night to a local beach and took it out of package and gave it to a guy in my club. I said "try casting this".
He lets it fly and the darn plug is on the way to Florida.
His eyes pop out .
He goes "holy sheet, I never made a longer cast in my life".
He moves it once and a 10 pound blue is all over it.
The plug got "mojo" man......lol"

"I hooked  up on my first cast with your big parrot pencil popper."

"My largest of the year so far came at first dawn on a yellow w/ redhead Sheriff one morning in June."

CNC Turned pencil popper, sealed against water for maximum durability, primed and painted. Weighted perfectly for optimum presentation! VMC Permasteel 4X strong 4/0 Belly hook, 4/0 tail hook. 150 lb 2X strong Rosco split rings.
Oversized reverse Holographic eyes for maximum effect! Stainless Steel hardware where possible!
Through wired for maximum strength! Perfect for school blue fin tuna, stripers, or LARGE bluefish!

I get asked a lot about what colors are best?
Pearl White is the best imitation of a normal squid. Olive/White and Black/Silver make excellent small bait imitators. Yellow or Parrot at sunrise or cloudy days. Parrot has also worked well on sunny days too! On sunny days stick with a color that has a high definition color hue change on it such as Blue/White or Olive/White.  Spend some time looking at the bait prevalent in your area and you will soon understand why certain colors can give you just that little bit extra advantage to entice a larger fish to take your lure.
Don't be afraid to use such colors as Blue/White, Black/Silver or Yellow/White at night either!
Lot's of people don't fish poppers at night but they are a very effective way to catch fish if you stay in contact with the plug. Fish them barb-less for an easy release and the health of our fish stocks! I've lost only a few fish in my life to barb-less hooks and they've all been faster runners than I can reel to keep tight to them!
