Salty's Dastardly Dannies

Perfect for North-east Saltwater top water fishing for BIG Stripers and Blues!

2.5 oz Size

NEW for 2005-Single Belly hook!
Hand Turned Pacific Cypress. We use only the finest stock! Hand tied buck tails with Mirage flash! VMC Permasteel 4X strong 4/0 belly hook, 6/0 tail hook, 150 lb swivels, 2X 90 lb strong split rings. All nickel plated hardware with Stainless steel through wiring. We make all our lures standard with Siwash hooks for best hook-up! Less hooks is a cleaner release and the siwash hook means less chance of the fish getting leverage and "spitting" the hook!

Proper presentation of a Danny swimmer lure is to cast then very slowly retrieve, stop occasionally, and also occasionally twitch the rod tip to let the lip throw some water.  The lure will wiggle it's tail end back and forth. These lures are designed to be surface swimmers, on a faster retrieve they will swim just below the surface. Danny lures are meant to be worked on top real slow.
Fish key in on the V wake and snake like action that these produce and will explosively hit these lures!

This guy hit my lure dead drifted when I was trying to take a knot out of my line. I hand lined him in on 12 lb test in 3' of water :)
The fish were cruising eel grass beds along the north side of Martha's Vineyard.
Bait was predominately juvenile sand eels but some small fry were hiding amongst the strands of grass.

What our customers have to say:

"Just wanted to let you know we at the ******** ********* just got back from our annual trip to Cuttyhunk and I had good luck with your swimmers over there. In fact there is a 40 or so inch bass that liked your Danny so much it wrapped around my ankles and broke off at my feet just so it could keep the plug. It also proceeded to dump me face down in the surf at the same time.
I also wanted to thank you for your generous donations to *** in the past for our raffles. Your plugs are always the first off the table."

"Just touching bases , the winners of your plugs at each of our tournaments have been very impressed. also after using them and seeing how well they produce they say the nice thing is they can find them on the shelves at local tackle shops .I have been doing very well with your stubby needles ( parrot color ) the last two week ends in R.I.   21.4 lb. bass Friday morning on your black Danny. 4th cast. "

"Loved your danny style swimmers as well, nice and fat and tuned up just great,
didn't get anything on them but that's because the needle was on the end of the line most of the time."

I get asked a lot about what colors are best for surf fishing?
Olive/White mimics a nice size mackerel in natural color and size.. Electric Squid is a great color to imitate frightened squid as they flee predator fish in the rips and rocks of the northeast. Pearl White is the best imitation of a normal squid. Yellow or Parrot at sunrise or cloudy days. Black/purple at night with the glow eyes is a killer if you softly light up the eyes in your headlamp. Same goes for the turquoise fire color-they are meant to be fished at night. On sunny days stick with a color that has a high definition color hue change on it....Olive/White, Blue/White, etc.  Spend some time looking at the bait prevalent in your area and you will soon understand why certain colors can give you just that little bit extra advantage to entice a larger fish to take your lure.
Don't be afraid to use such colors as Olive/White, Blue/White, or Yellow/White at night either!
