Sales Policies and Miscellaneous Information

Shipping: We ship exclusively via UPS for the best package control and tracking. When your order is processed and the shipping information is transmitted electronically to UPS, you should receive an email from UPS with your package tracking information. This doesn't always happen instantly, sometimes it takes a day for them to catch up. If you have placed an order and haven't seen a email with this information then please check your spam folders before asking for tracking information as we find many times people have received the UPS email but miss it due to the large volume of spam messages prevalent on the internet.  We ship on average 3 times per week, sometimes more and sometimes less. While we give priority to Air shipment orders, we cannot make a guarantee that your order will ship the same day received. UPS pickup cutoff times, weather delays, work loads, product stock levels, etc all contribute to this. We try our best to get your order out the same day if at all possible but occasionally delays do happen.

Overseas Shipping: Yes we do ship overseas.  We can ship one of two ways. By UPS or US Mail.  However it is very expensive and cost prohibitive to do this via UPS.  Here's what we need before we will ship. Enter your order in on the site, checking out with your credit card, then fax us a copy of the front and back of your credit card  showing the name on the front and the signature on the rear, also fax a copy of a picture ID with signature on it for verification.  Our fax number is (508)278-4513. We will not ship outside of the USA without this.  We will give you a quote by email on the UPS rates once the order is received and we are able to verify the card with the received fax.  **US Mail is available as an option for shipping however you must note on the fax sent 1. That any claims for loss or damages are purely at your own risk, 2. You agree to pay your credit card company for this order and 3. Salty's is in no way held liable for same , please sign this statement on the fax also to eliminate any misunderstanding. Sorry to make overseas customers jump through hoops, but we need to make sure that these orders are not fraudulent and that we're not going to be liable for a chargeback from your credit card company.

Third Party Shipping: Bank rules dictate that we must ship to the credit card billing address to prevent fraudulent transactions. The address you use on your order must match the street and zip code of your credit card billing address or the order cannot be processed. If you use a Post Office Box for your mailing address please indicate this in the comment field of your order. Orders that are received without a matching verifiable address will be refused as they are considered an automatic fraudulent transaction by the credit card companies. We do not ship outside of the USA and Canada unless the order is pre-paid. We do accept wire transfers to our bank account to speed your order with a slight surcharge. Please contact us for details.

Checks/Insufficient payment: Any checks received that are returned for non payment we will assess a $40 returned check fee. 
We don't make rubber lures so please don't send us rubber checks :)

Returns: All sales are final. Salty's will accept returns for replacement of any lures/parts found defective from manufacturing within the first 90 days of purchase. Product is only exchanged and in no case is there monetary credit given.  Returns must be accompanied by a copy of your sales receipt for date verification. Salty's is in no way responsible for return shipping of the damaged lure/part to our location, that is the customer responsibility.  Returns for problems are VERY few and far between but given the volume our shop puts out it's possible to occasionally have a problem with a lure/part-we're human and can miss something (although we try REAL hard not to).  If a lure/part is deemed defective and cannot be repaired we will ship you a replacement at no extra charge to you.   Returns for any other reason are not accepted.  Please contact us prior to shipping anything for a proper return material authorization number. Occasionally we may ship a lure of the wrong color or type, if this should happen please accept our sincere apologies, we do sometimes make mistakes and we're happy to make it right. Please contact us ASAP with any problems with your order so that it can be resolved. Damage from fishing, ie rocks, bluefish, etc is considered normal wear and tear and not a defect. As our lures are hand-made there can be minor imperfections, grain, etc that does not affect their use-ability and adds to the character of the lure. We very closely inspect every lure and any lure that doesn't meet our quality control is marked as a blem or marked up as a mackerel back lure to distinguish it from first class product. Any kits that don't meet our quality control standards are discarded.  Blemished lures are sold from time to time and they are minor paint blems or slight misdrills etc, these lures are sold as is without any warranty implied...and the price reflects this. We typically set aside one page for blemished lures. Online pictorials are guides for kit assembly only. We reserve the right to make changes to any of our lures without notice.

Charge backs: Recently we received several credit card charge backs for orders that were shipped and when people got their charge card bills didn't remember who "Salty's" was.  Instead of stopping to think about who or what the charge is, some find it easier to call their credit card companies and complain. Problem is we get hit with a $25 fee assessed any time this happens.  It comes out of my personal pocket and effective 3/1/09 if we receive a chargeback notice from a valid order that was properly filled and delivered we will now consider this a returned check charge and we will charge you the $25 directly. Submission of an order is an acknowledgement of the receipt of our terms and conditions.

Use of information collected: Salty's does not disclose to anyone or any company any information it collects to process orders. Your information including telephone numbers, email addresses, etc will not ever be sold or given out to any other company. We respect your privacy. All credit card information is stored securely and destroyed after use in accordance with standard Visa/MC/Amex/Discover policies.

Care of your lures: We highly recommend that you rinse your lures with fresh water after each use in saltwater to prevent corrosion of the hooks and swivels etc.  Some colors used in lures are actually aniline dyes and can fade slightly in the sun-remember this and try to store your lures in a area away from the sun (not on your dashboard etc)   Allow your lures to dry thoroughly before storing to prevent additional corrosion or mildew damage in damp areas.  Do not store your lures near pool chemicals or any chemical containing chlorine as it will cause them to prematurely rust/corrode.

A note on UPS rates:

We've had a few emails over the past few weeks from people complaining about the UPS shipping charges. This has been an issue with us for quite some time and I thought I'd address this here. UPS has been increasing their rates annually and have now made it very expensive to ship. On 1/1/09 they went up again, not only raising the per pound rates but the costs for insurance, residential delivery, area surcharges, etc.

As part of our accepting credit cards online, the bank requires us to prove without a doubt that a package was delivered and who signed for it. Without this anyone can call their credit card company and say they never received the package and we're out the lures, and out the money if we can't prove it was delivered. Been there done that folks and unfortunately we got taken for some pretty large credit card fraud a long time ago. UPS is the least expensive carrier we've found to accomplish accurate and reliable delivery without loss or damage.
I can offer one suggestion to people who dislike the current UPS rates...partner up with a buddy or a group and put your online orders in together.
UPS rates are by the pound. The first pound is the majority of the charge and additional weight is considerably cheaper- in some cases .15-.25 per pound additional so you can save some money.

As an addendum to the UPS rates, UPS is actually still very much cheaper than USPS flat rate box. A flat rate USPS box is about $11 without insurance!

On 1/1/2010 they went up again too!!
